I woke this morning to the call of prayer
My eyes half closed and my body asleep.
Should I attend school today, do I dare?
The soldiers’ guns make my poor mother weep.
So many classmates never made it back.
They never imagined dying so young,
Or that throwing stones would cause an attack,
Their screams inside me and in my ears they wrung.
I put my head on my plain white pillow.
Heavy tears start to roll down my cold face.
Will there ever be a better tomorrow?
How about a better living space?
Oh God, please help us, please help Palestine,
For you are the one who can help us shine.
